Our Story

We are a small family owned business who have combined a love of Alpacas together with a passion for creating beautiful handmade Alpaca products.

A lifelong dream to live on acreage and own a small hobby farm came to fruition when we moved to the Hawkesbury (NSW) in 2016.  Not long after we purchased our first 2 adorable Alpacas and cemented the foundation for our farm.  Falling in love straight away with both Alpacas it quickly become evident that having 2 was simply not enough.  Since then our herd has expanded and we have the pleasure in owning 8 today (and 1 Llama).

Hand crafted products have always been of keen interest throughout my childhood with both my Grandmother and Mother teaching me the art of Knitting, Crocheting, Sewing and the joy that completing a product brings.  This gift has always been a part of me and has since been refined in maturity.

Originally the primary financial focus for the business was as a small company bookkeeper but with troubling times brought about by COVID-19 the shift in direction was required.  The change required was not only for financial reasons but COVID has shown us just how important it is to create a better work / life balance.  ‘A light bulb moment’ happened and the creative thinking which followed paved the way for a new direction and “Aussie Alpaca Knits” and “Aussie Alpaca World” were formed.

During this journey we have come to realise a few of the challenges we have had to face is the education of the Alpaca itself, the many differences and benefits their fleece provides and what goes into making each product.

Now our primary goal is the growth of the Alpaca brand with an expansive array of Alpaca related merchandise whilst maintaining a strong emphasis on quality Hand-Crafted products made from 100% Australian Alpaca yarn.
